Hisense Targets Indian Gaming Market With E8S Mini-LED Series Starting at ₹57,990
Hisense expands its ULED portfolio in India with the E8S Mini-LED series, featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and Devialet-tuned audio starting at ₹57,990.

A Strategic Pivot Toward High-Refresh Displays
Hisense is doubling down on the Indian home entertainment market with the launch of the E8S ULED Mini-LED series. While the brand has already established a footprint in the budget-to-midrange segment, the E8S represents a clear push toward the ‘prosumer’ and gaming demographics, combining a high-performance panel with an aggressive introductory pricing strategy.
The standout specification of the E8S series is the native 144Hz refresh rate. While 120Hz has become the standard for high-end gaming TVs to match PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X capabilities, the jump to 144Hz explicitly targets PC gamers who utilize high-refresh-rate GPUs. By integrating this into a Mini-LED chassis, Hisense is attempting to bridge the gap between a dedicated gaming monitor and a living-room cinema experience.
The Mini-LED Advantage: Contrast and Control
At the heart of the E8S is Hisense’s ULED technology paired with Mini-LEDs. Unlike traditional LED-LCDs, which rely on larger backlights, Mini-LEDs allow for significantly more precise control over brightness and contrast. The inclusion of Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) ensures that black levels remain deep without the ‘blooming’ effect often seen around bright objects on darker backgrounds.
To further refine the image, the series utilizes AI-powered picture processing and supports Dolby Vision IQ. The ‘IQ’ suffix is critical here; it allows the TV to use ambient light sensors to automatically adjust the HDR brightness and tone mapping based on the actual lighting conditions of the room, removing the need for manual calibration every time a curtain is drawn.
Audio Engineering by Devialet
One of the most overlooked aspects of thin-profile TVs is the inevitable compromise in sound. Hisense has attempted to mitigate this by partnering with French audio house Devialet. The E8S features a built-in subwoofer tuned by Devialet, aiming to provide a more cinematic low-end response that usually requires a separate soundbar setup.
Market Positioning and Availability
The E8S series is being launched as an ‘online-first’ product, available primarily through Amazon and Flipkart. This strategy allows Hisense to maintain a leaner distribution chain and offer more competitive pricing. The lineup is comprehensive in its sizing, offering 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, and 85-inch variants to cater to different room scales.
Starting at an introductory price of ₹57,990 for the 55-inch model, the E8S positions itself as a disruptor. This price point brings Mini-LED technology—which was previously reserved for flagship models costing well over ₹1 lakh—into a bracket that is accessible to a much wider audience. To further lower the barrier to entry, the company is offering No Cost EMI options for up to 18 months, a move clearly designed to capture the younger, tech-savvy demographic in India.
