Haier Challenges India’s Mid-Range TV Market with HQLED P7 Pro Series and Gemini Integration

A Strategic Push into the Living Room
Haier is intensifying its push into the Indian home entertainment market with the launch of the HQLED P7 Pro series. Rather than simply releasing another budget-tier panel, the company is positioning this lineup as a high-value alternative to established brands, blending aggressive pricing with a specific focus on acoustic performance and AI integration.
The P7 Pro series arrives in five distinct sizes—43, 50, 55, 65, and 75 inches—catering to a broad spectrum of living room dimensions. However, the most notable hardware play here isn’t the screen size, but the audio. While most mid-range TVs rely on thin, downward-firing speakers that struggle with low frequencies, Haier has equipped the P7 Pro with a 50W 2.1-channel system featuring an integrated subwoofer. Combined with Dolby Atmos and the company’s proprietary Total Sonics technology, the goal is clearly to reduce the immediate need for an external soundbar in smaller rooms.
The AI Edge: Google TV and Gemini
Software-wise, the P7 Pro leverages the Google TV ecosystem, but the standout addition is the integration of Gemini. By incorporating Google’s latest LLM capabilities for hands-free voice control, Haier is attempting to move beyond simple command-and-response interactions. This allows for more natural language processing, enabling users to find content or control smart home devices with a level of nuance that previous Google Assistant implementations lacked.
Under the hood, the series carries 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. While these specs are standard for the category, they provide sufficient headroom for the Google TV interface to remain fluid, provided users don’t overload the system with heavy third-party applications.
Display Tech and the ‘HQLED’ Proposition
The core of the series is Haier’s in-house HQLED technology. According to the company, these panels are capable of hitting a 93 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, which suggests a level of color accuracy and saturation typically reserved for slightly more expensive QLED sets. For those opting for the larger 55-inch to 75-inch models, Haier has added Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, ensuring the sets can handle high-dynamic-range content from streaming services like Netflix and Disney+.
Beyond the pixels, Haier is addressing the growing concern over screen-induced eye fatigue. The lineup features TÜV Rheinland-certified Low Blue Light technology, designed to mitigate the harshness of short-wave light during long binge-watching sessions—a detail that adds a layer of health-conscious marketing to the technical specs.
Pricing and Market Availability
Haier is pricing the P7 Pro series to compete directly with the likes of Xiaomi and Samsung’s entry-level Crystal UHD range. The entry point is ₹35,990 for the 43-inch model, scaling up to ₹43,490 for the 50-inch and ₹49,990 for the 55-inch variant. The premium larger screens are priced at ₹67,990 for 65 inches and ₹90,990 for the 75-inch flagship.
In a move that signals confidence in their build quality—and perhaps a strategy to win over skeptical first-time Haier buyers in India—the company is offering a three-year warranty on these models. The series is available immediately across major retail channels and online platforms.
