    A Strategic Push into AI-Ready Mid-Range Hardware

Asus has expanded its productivity lineup in India with the launch of the Vivobook 15, featuring the new Intel Core 5 Series 3 processor. By integrating this specific chipset, Asus claims a first-to-market advantage in the country for this processor tier, signaling a shift toward making ‘AI-ready’ hardware accessible to the general consumer rather than just high-end power users.

The move comes at a critical juncture for the Indian laptop market, where the definition of a “budget” or “everyday” laptop is evolving. With the inclusion of a processor designed to handle local AI workloads more efficiently, the Vivobook 15 is positioned not just as a machine for spreadsheets and browsing, but as a gateway for users to experiment with on-device AI tools without the steep price tag of a dedicated NPU-heavy workstation.

    Specifications and Design Choices

Under the hood, the Vivobook 15 sticks to a reliable productivity formula. It is equipped with 16GB of DDR5 RAM, a necessary upgrade from the aging DDR4 standard to ensure the system can handle the multitasking demands of modern Windows 11 environments. Storage is handled by a 512GB SSD, providing a baseline of speed and capacity that meets the expectations of the average student or professional.

The visual experience is centered around a 15.6-inch Full-HD display. While Asus hasn’t pivoted to OLED for this specific model, the FHD panel remains a staple for those who prioritize screen real estate for work. In terms of aesthetics, the company is offering the device in three distinct finishes: Cool Silver, Quiet Blue, and Terra Cotta, catering to a demographic that wants a more personalized look than the standard corporate grey.

Aggressive Pricing and the ‘Sale’ Strategy

The pricing strategy for the Vivobook 15 is heavily tied to India’s current e-commerce cycle. While the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) is set at Rs. 1,59,990, the effective launch price has been slashed to Rs. 1,07,990—a discount of roughly 33 percent. This pricing gap suggests that Asus is leveraging the Amazon Prime Day and Flipkart GOAT Sales to drive immediate volume and market penetration.

By anchoring the price point near the 1.08 lakh mark, Asus is attempting to undercut premium competitors while offering specs that feel current. The device will be available exclusively through Amazon and Flipkart, with additional incentives including bank offers and no-cost EMI plans for up to nine months, further lowering the barrier to entry for budget-conscious buyers.

Expanding the Gaming Portfolio: The TUF A15

Alongside the Vivobook, Asus is refreshing its gaming presence with a special Prime Day release of the TUF Gaming A15. Available in Graphite Black, the A15 is designed for a completely different user profile—those prioritizing thermal management and GPU performance over portability.

Mirroring the Vivobook’s discount strategy, the TUF Gaming A15 carries an MRP of Rs. 1,55,990 but is being introduced at a launch price of Rs. 1,18,990. This 24 percent reduction makes the TUF line more competitive in a market currently flooded with aggressive pricing from Acer and HP. This dual-pronged launch demonstrates Asus’s intent to capture both the productivity and gaming segments simultaneously during the peak Q3 shopping season.
