Honor is eyeing the small-tablet gap with a high-spec ‘Win Pad Mini’ gaming slate

Bridging the gap between phones and slates
The market for small-form-factor Android tablets has been largely dormant for years, leaving a void that mostly only the iPad Mini continues to fill. Honor appears ready to challenge that status quo. According to recent leaks from industry insider Digital Chat Station, the company is currently evaluating a compact, gaming-centric tablet likely to be branded as the Honor Win Pad Mini.
This isn’t just a casual addition to the Honor portfolio; it represents a strategic expansion of the “Win” gaming ecosystem. Having already deployed gaming-optimized smartphones and laptops, Honor is attempting to create a cohesive hardware loop for enthusiasts who want high-performance silicon across different form factors. The Win Pad Mini is designed to be the portable middle ground—offering more screen real estate than a phone without the cumbersome footprint of a traditional 11- or 13-inch tablet.
Flagship internals in a compact chassis
While official specifications remain under wraps, the leaked hardware profile suggests Honor is not cutting corners on performance. The device is expected to feature an OLED panel measuring approximately 8 inches, characterized by ultra-narrow bezels and a high refresh rate. For gaming, a high refresh rate is non-negotiable, and an OLED implementation suggests Honor is prioritizing deep blacks and instantaneous response times to compete with high-end gaming monitors.
Under the hood, the Win Pad Mini is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite-series chipset. Moving a flagship-grade SoC into a smaller chassis presents significant thermal challenges, but if Honor can maintain stable clock speeds without aggressive throttling, the device could become the gold standard for mobile gaming emulators and AAA Android titles.
The endurance play
One of the most compelling claims from the leak concerns the battery. Digital Chat Station suggests that Honor is aiming to equip the Win Pad Mini with the largest battery currently found in the compact tablet segment. This is a critical pivot; usually, “mini” devices sacrifice battery capacity for portability. By prioritizing endurance, Honor is targeting the power-user demographic that finds the battery life of current small tablets insufficient for long gaming sessions.
This focus on power management aligns with Honor’s broader strategy. Recent leaks regarding the Honor Win 2 Pro Max smartphone suggest a massive 10,000mAh-class battery and potentially a 2nm process chipset, indicating that the company is obsessed with the power-to-performance ratio across its entire gaming line.
Timing and the Win ecosystem
The potential launch of the Win Pad Mini doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Honor has been aggressively scaling its gaming presence in China since December 2025, introducing the Win series of phones and the Honor Win Turbo. With the Honor Win 2 and Win RT 2 gaming smartphones expected to arrive later this year, a simultaneous launch of the Win Pad Mini would allow Honor to market a complete “gaming suite” to consumers.
The strategy is clear: create a proprietary environment where a user can switch from a Win smartphone to a Win tablet and then to a Win laptop, maintaining a consistent performance profile and aesthetic. If Honor can execute the thermal management and battery density required for an 8-inch powerhouse, they may finally give Android users a viable, high-performance alternative to the Apple iPad Mini.
