For years, the security camera industry has operated on a compromise. Consumers typically accept a trade-off: you can have a wide-angle view to monitor a driveway, or you can have a telephoto zoom to identify a face, but you rarely get both with high fidelity in a single unit. Most footage is characterized by grainy textures, muddy low-light performance, and tracking that often loses the subject in complex environments.
Reolink is attempting to dismantle this compromise with the launch of the OMVI 3i PoE. Unveiled at CES 2026, the camera introduces a triple-lens architecture designed to provide simultaneous situational awareness and high-resolution detail. Rather than relying on digital zoom—which often degrades image quality—the OMVI 3i utilizes a hardware-based approach to capture a total of 18MP across its system.
The Triple-Lens Architecture: How it Works
The core of the OMVI 3i is its hybrid lens configuration. It pairs a dual-lens panoramic camera with a dedicated pan-tilt tracking lens. The panoramic module provides a 10MP wide-view, ensuring there are no blind spots in the camera’s immediate vicinity. Meanwhile, the 8MP pan-tilt lens acts as the “hunter,” zooming in on specific points of interest.
This hardware synergy enables a feature Reolink calls SyncTrack. When the panoramic sensors detect movement, the pan-tilt lens automatically locks onto the subject and follows it in real-time. This is complemented by the Auto Framing gesture, which dynamically centers and focuses on the subject, effectively mimicking the behavior of a professional camera operator.
“With the OMVI 3i PoE, we wanted to close the gap between what people expect from their cameras and what they’ve come to accept from their security systems,” says Ali Park, Reolink’s UK Country Manager. By decoupling coverage from clarity, the system allows users to maintain a full-scene view while simultaneously capturing high-definition evidence of a specific event.
Local AI and the War on Subscriptions
Beyond the optics, the OMVI 3i addresses one of the biggest pain points in modern smart home tech: the monthly subscription fee. Many industry leaders have moved toward “cloud-only” AI features, locking advanced person or vehicle detection behind a paywall. Reolink is taking the opposite approach with ReoNeura AI.
ReoNeura is a local AI video search tool that processes data on the device rather than in the cloud. This allows users to perform plain-language queries—such as searching for a “man carrying a package” or a “red vehicle”—and receive instant results without a recurring monthly cost. Because the processing happens locally, it also reduces latency and improves privacy by keeping sensitive footage off third-party servers.
Expanding the Ecosystem
The OMVI 3i PoE, retailing at $249.99, is the first entry in a broader strategy to bring high-end imaging to the security sector. Reolink has already signaled further expansions to the lineup. A WiFi-enabled version, the OMVI 3i WiFi, is scheduled for release on July 20th for $259.99, catering to users who cannot easily run Ethernet cables through their walls.
More ambitious hardware is also on the horizon. The upcoming OMVI X16 PoE, expected this autumn, is slated to push the boundaries further with 4K resolution across all lenses and a triple-motor structure for more precise tracking. Industry estimates place the pricing for the X16 between $375 and $460.
For the end-user, the result is a shift in the security paradigm. By combining the resolution of a premium compact camera with the intelligence of local AI, Reolink is positioning the OMVI series as a viable professional-grade solution that doesn’t require a professional installation crew.
